Oils

Oil is literally the lifeblood of an engine so its critically important to use the right product for your application. Since the EPA’s mandate to lower & remove phosphorus (and zinc) from engine oils to ensure that the catalytic converter lasts the life of the car, oil is no longer “just oil”.

Oils containing less than 1200ppm of zinc & phosphorus in air-cooled engines put the camshafts, rocker arms, rings, intermediate shaft gears, and bearings at higher risk for increased wear and failure. Water-cooled motors can survive nicely on oils with 1000ppm, however air-cooled ones do not fare well.

While there are many good choices, we’ve assembled a group of recommended engine oils that we implicitly trust, based on long-term experiences under a wide variety of operating conditions.
